We have all dreamed about winning a world or national championship but have you ever thought about a structured campaign to help you get there. Here are some ideas.

12-Month Coaching Program for IOM World Championship (May 2026)
Phase 1: Foundation & Analysis (June–July 2025)
Goals:
• Comprehensive assessment of sailing, tactics, and equipment.
• Set performance benchmarks and campaign plan.
Key Activities:
• Video review of recent regattas. How did you perform. What lessons did you learn?
• Full tuning baseline with existing rigs (A/B/C).
• Equipment check: hull shape, foils, radio gear, sails.
• Mental and physical training baseline set. Visualisation program
• Join key local regattas for current-state benchmark.

Phase 2: Tuning & Boat Handling Mastery (Aug–Sept 2025)
Goals:
• Build consistent speed and boat handling in all wind ranges.
• Lock in tuning reference for each rig.
Key Activities:
• Weekly tuning sessions focused on:
• Sail camber, twist, mast rake, jib boom angle.
• Downwind VMG and acceleration practice.
• Track changes with tuning matrix and video logs.
• Practice: tacks, gybes, ducking, acceleration from standstill.
• Match race drills to sharpen one-on-one tactics.

Phase 3: Advanced Tactics & Race Simulation (Oct–Nov 2025)
Goals:
• Strengthen fleet strategy, positioning, and mark approaches.
Key Activities:
• Practice time-to-line starts (10+ per session).
• Drills for layline judgment, mark traps, and rule scenarios.
• Join larger fleet regattas (national level if possible).
• Develop checklists for race prep and tuning pre-start.

Phase 4: Off-Season Optimization & Mental Conditioning (Dec 2025–Jan 2026)
Goals:
• Maintain sharpness; refine mental resilience and reaction.
Key Activities:
• Indoor mental rehearsal: visualizing starts, mark roundings.
• Equipment refinement: small rig adjustments or upgrades.
• Review past season’s data — finalize tuning playbook.
• Targeted flexibility and eye-tracking exercises for onshore focus.

Phase 5: High-Level Regattas & World Prep (Feb–Mar 2026)
Goals:
• Enter international events or high-level nationals.
• Finalize rig settings and develop local wind strategy.
Key Activities:
• Simulated full race days with 6+ races per session.
• Work with coach to analyze boat speed, tactics under stress.
• Travel to Worlds venue if possible for site training.

• Arrive at Worlds with tuned gear, confidence, and routine.
Key Activities:
• Light training focused on finesse, not volume.
• Finalize equipment transport, spares, and backups.
• Confirm checklists: gear, tuning logs, protest procedures.
• Mental rehearsal and confidence routines dialed in.
